Call Tracking
Quick version: Fieldkit gives your campaigns a dedicated tracking phone number. When someone calls it, the call forwards to your real phone. You see every call in the Call Log with details about which campaign brought it in.
Note: This feature is available on the Pro plan ($198/mo).
How Call Tracking Works
When you run ads through Fieldkit, your campaigns use a tracking phone number instead of your personal number. Here's what happens:
- A homeowner sees your ad and calls the tracking number
- The call immediately forwards to your real phone number
- Fieldkit logs the call with the date, time, duration, caller's number, and which campaign triggered it
- You answer the phone like you normally would
The caller never knows they're going through a tracking number. It looks and feels like a regular phone call.
Viewing the Call Log
- Click Calls in the left sidebar (under Marketing)
- You'll see your call stats at the top and a table of all calls below
Call Stats
The stats section at the top of the page shows:
- Today -- Calls received today
- Week -- Calls received this week
- Duration -- Average call length
- Answered -- Percentage of calls you answered
- Convert -- Percentage of calls that turned into booked jobs
- Booked -- Total jobs booked from calls
- Revenue -- Total dollar value from booked jobs
Call History Table
Each row in the call table shows:
- Date and time of the call
- Caller's phone number
- Duration of the call
- Campaign that generated the call
- Outcome -- what happened with the call (see below)
If you have multiple locations, you can filter calls by location using the dropdown at the top.
Marking Call Outcomes
After each call, mark what happened. This is important -- it's how Fieldkit calculates your ROI.
Click the Set outcome dropdown on any call and choose one:
- Booked -- You booked a job. You can also enter the expected job value (dollar amount).
- Callback -- The customer wants a callback. Follow up later.
- Quote -- You gave a quote but haven't booked yet.
- Not a Fit -- The caller wasn't a good fit for your services.
- Spam -- Junk call, robocall, or wrong number.
You can change an outcome at any time by clicking the existing outcome badge.
Why Outcomes Matter
When you mark calls as "Booked" and enter the job value, Fieldkit can calculate:
- Your cost per booked job
- Your total revenue from ads
- Your return on investment (ROI)
Without outcomes, your marketing dashboard only shows calls and spend -- not whether those calls turned into real money.
Tracking Numbers
Fieldkit assigns tracking numbers based on your business ZIP code, so callers see a local area code. The number is provisioned through Twilio and configured to forward to your business phone.
You don't need to do anything to set up the tracking number. It's handled automatically when you create a campaign.
Filtering Calls
If you have multiple locations, use the location filter at the top of the Calls page to see calls for a specific location.
You can also filter by date range to see calls during a specific period.
Tips
- Mark outcomes the same day the call comes in -- it's easy to forget later
- Always enter a job value when marking a call as "Booked" -- even an estimate helps
- Check the "Answered" rate -- if you're missing calls, consider adding team members or adjusting your availability
- Spam calls happen on every platform. Mark them as spam so they don't skew your metrics.
- A call under 30 seconds usually isn't a real lead -- use the duration column to spot these quickly
