Managing Leads
Quick version: Leads from Google Local Service Ads flow into a pipeline where you track them from "New" to "Won" or "Lost." You can convert a lead into a customer and create a job, all from the same screen.
Note: This feature is available on the Pro plan ($198/mo).
What Is the Lead Pipeline?
The Lead Pipeline is where you manage incoming leads from Google Local Service Ads (LSA). It works like a sales funnel -- leads come in on the left and move right as you work them.
To access it, click Leads in the left sidebar (under Marketing).
Pipeline Stages
Every lead moves through these stages:
- New -- The lead just came in. You haven't contacted them yet.
- Contacted -- You've reached out to the homeowner (called them back, sent a message).
- Quoted -- You've given them a price or estimate.
- Won -- They said yes. You booked the job.
- Lost -- They went with someone else or canceled.
The pipeline summary at the top of the page shows how many leads are in each stage.
How Leads Come In
Leads are synced automatically from your Google Local Service Ads account. They can come in three ways:
- Phone calls -- The homeowner called your LSA number
- Messages -- The homeowner sent a message through Google
- Bookings -- The homeowner booked directly through Google
Click the Sync button at the top of the Leads page to pull in the latest leads.
Moving a Lead Through the Pipeline
To change a lead's stage:
- Find the lead in the list or pipeline view
- Update the stage to reflect where they are in your process
When you move a lead to "Won" or "Lost," it's automatically marked as closed.
Key Metrics
The Leads page shows four important numbers:
- Total Leads -- All leads from all sources, broken down by type (phone, message, booking)
- Active -- Leads that are still in progress (New + Contacted + Quoted)
- Win Rate -- The percentage of closed leads that you won
- Lead Value -- Total dollar value from your won leads
Lead Status
In addition to the pipeline stage, each lead has a status that describes what action is needed:
- Active -- Normal, in-progress lead
- On Hold -- Paused for now
- No Answer -- You couldn't reach the homeowner
- Follow Up -- Needs a follow-up call or message
- Scheduled -- An appointment is set
- Closed -- No more action needed (automatically set for Won/Lost)
Converting a Lead to a Customer
When you win a lead, you can convert it directly into a Fieldkit customer:
- Open the lead
- Click Convert to Customer
- Fill in any additional details (email, address)
- The new customer appears in your Customers list
Disputing a Lead
Sometimes Google charges you for a bad lead -- a wrong number, spam call, or someone outside your service area. You can dispute these:
- Find the lead in your pipeline
- Click Dispute
- Select a reason and add a description
- Fieldkit sends the dispute to Google on your behalf
If Google approves the dispute, you'll get a credit on your LSA account.
Pipeline Views
The Leads page offers multiple views to see your leads:
- Pipeline/Kanban view -- Visual board with columns for each stage
- Funnel view -- See how leads progress through stages
- List view -- Traditional table view with sorting and filtering
Choose the view that works best for how you like to work.
Tips
- Respond to new leads within 5 minutes -- speed matters more than anything else
- Move leads through stages as you work them so your numbers stay accurate
- Dispute any junk leads right away -- you shouldn't pay for spam calls
- Use the Win Rate metric to track how well you're closing leads over time
- Check the Leads page daily so nothing falls through the cracks
